My wife and I bought this French door, counter depth Electrolux in late April of this year (2010.) I have to say, I am not happy with this refrigerator at all.
First, it is occasionally very noisy and sounds like popcorn is popping inside. I think this is related to the icemaker, which also doesn't dispense very well at all.
Second, the door design on this unit is terrible. There is a moving weatherseal on the right-hand door that keeps it from just naturally closing. You have to exert a fair amount of force to close it. With the icemaker on the left door (and after years of side-by-side units) the right hand door is the natural one to use to access the fridge. Because of the hinged seal strip, it often doesn't quite close. Why they didn't put the seal on the left door is beyond me. It also doesn't indicate that it is ajar and the icemaker actually makes noise like it is working, but it doesn't engage and dispense ice.
Third and finally, it is extremely easy to cause the freezer baskets to jump out of their mounts and jam up.
I would highly not recommend this unit.

KitchenAid KFCS22EVMS Architect II Series Energy Star Counter Depth French Door Review

I want to hug this thing every morning! But I won't- that way lies madness. Besides, I don't think DH would like it. Why am I so happy? Because..I had a 25 year old, noisy Sub Zero for which I could no longer find parts. It had to go. Unfortunately, we had remodeled the kitchen around it. So I thought I was stuck with another Sub Zero. Why do I say "stuck"? Aren't Sub Zeros the very best? Well, call me a rube , but to me it was essentially a shinier, shallower, taller, louder version of my cheap Sears fridge in the basement. Not to mention that a new Sub Zero costs over $8000, for Pete's sake!
What to do? Enter the KitchenAid counter depth French door fridge. Fantastic. For about $6000 less I have a fridge that takes up less space but has more room inside.(It's magic!) The counter depth fits perfectly in the space where the Sub Zero loomed. The KitchenAid is pretty and quiet and well organized on the inside. Now I have a new, quiet, (did I mention quiet?) fridge with more room inside. It has an interior filtered water dispenser, an excellent deli drawer,(wide and shallow so you can see everything) see -thru veggie bins, and even a neat little scoop in the ice bin. The doors open and close independently of one another. I also like having two smaller doors instead of one heavy door. The water filter is within easy reach in the top of the fridge.
The freezer is also well organized. The ice bin can be rolled out of the way to make use of the space beneath. The freezer also has bins which might , for example, keep melted Popsicle goo from leaking all over the freezer and the floor and the ceiling beneath. Just in case.
AND my cabinet maker is going to put a new shelf in the space that opened up over the KitchenAid. (The Sub Zero was 12" inches taller). I finally have a place to store those huge trays my mother gave me for Christmas. More fridge taking up less space for less money- what's not to like?

Samsung : RSG257AARS 24 cu. ft. Counter Depth Side by Side Refrigerator - Real Stainless Review

Samsung : RSG257AARS 24 cu. ft. Counter Depth Side by Side Refrigerator - Real Stainless
Average Reviews:

This model is newer inside than the larger, non-counter depth model RS275ACRS. I returned that model to get this one and am very glad I did.
1. This model has interior LED lights when you open the refrigerator instead of the hotter old bulbs like the 275.
2. I am somewhat compulsive about temperature control. I have two precision thermometers, one in the fridge and one in the freezer compartment. On the RS275ACRS, the temperatures were nowhere near what the external display was reporting them as. On this model, however, the refrigerator is usually within 0.2 deg F of the reported temperature (at coldest setting of 34F, thermometer reports 34.1 whereas the 275 would be all over the place, never lower than 37 or so). In the freezer, this model is rock solid at -10 F when the external display is -14 F. I consider this excellent, as most freezers can't get this low. The 275 was lucky to get to -7 F with the display at -14 F. And yes, I allowed plenty of calibration time and took multiple readings over weeks. So, in my testing anyway, they have definitely upgraded the innards since the 275.
3. This model has the icemaker on the freezer door, not hogging the upper shelves of the freezer, which I love.
4. It is, obviously, slightly shallower than the RS275ACRS, but the markedly improved performance is well worth it to me.
5. Fridge very quiet.
6. External display slightly improved vs RS275ACRS.

My refrigerator is 2 1/2 years old. The ice maker is a huge problem. With poor ice insulation, ice always clumping together. Exterior easily dents, and shows hand & finger smudges.
The refrigerator just stopped working. Freon leak, location unknown and it will cost approximately $700, if they can locate the leak. LG won't stand by their product. I think it's poor quality and I don't trust this unit. Freon leak in my kitchen!! Don't bother asking them to stand by their product, I just got "We can do nothing for you, mam." Don't buy LG or this model, unless you purchase the extended warranty $$$$.

Samsung RS261MDWP 26 cu. Ft. Side by Side Refrigerator - White Pearl Review

Samsung RS261MDWP 26 cu. Ft. Side by Side Refrigerator - White Pearl
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After looking at a number of brands and models of refrigerators, we settled on the Samsung RS261MD in stainless. We liked the overall look, interior arrangement, fit and finish, and the fact that the side was painted a neutral grey, rather than black (personal preference). It is also rated as very energy efficient and priced competively. We knew we were making a couple of compromises and a some other issues came up after we had it in our home. These are:
o LED lighting - Energy efficient and looks cool. On a pricier Samsung model there were more lights. We found after it was fully loaded this fridge does not really have enough to fully light the interior of the fridge side as well as it should. Freezer seems better.
o Ice Maker/water - Like most new refrigerators, all of the controls are contained in an electronic pad on the front of the fridge, integrated with the temperature controls. Had to read the instructions (difficult for a man) to figure everything out. We had a temporary scare with getting ice through the door, as you have to push much harder than we expected to get ice to come out, hard enough that our young kids struggle with it a little. I miss the simplicity of the manual controls we had before and hope the components hold up to the test of time. Having just a single opening for both water and ice means we have to push buttons to get water and ice, maybe a minor point, but all the button pushing will put miles on the electronics fast.
o Shelves - There is only a minimal ability to set the vertical distance between shelves, something we are already seeing as an issue. Probably pretty minor, but we are having to rethink how we store things as we don't have the flexibilty to do what we want. The thin materials which make up the fixed ledges on which the shelves rest are a concern, they were slightly crushed during shipment for one set we have to use. On the upside, the icemaker arrangement leaves a nice space for large flat things like frozen pizzas, which were always a challenge before.
o Water filter - The water filter is inside the refrigerator compartment and takes away some space from the lower drawer. No big deal, but every inch counts in our house.
o Labels - This is a nitpick, but all the labels and tape which came attached to the inside and outside of the refrigerator left residue which was a pain to get off. The one on the outside just would not come off without scraping, something you don't really want to do on a shiny new appliance.
Right now, I say we are satisfied, but with some long-term concerns.

Samsung RF263AEBP 26 cu. Ft. French Door Refrigerator - Black Pearl Review

Samsung RF263AEBP 26 cu. Ft. French Door Refrigerator - Black Pearl
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Had it for a couple years now. The icemaker worked great for the first few months. Now it has become more noisy (refilling, motor, etc) and the cubes are sticking together and coming out broken into small pieces. But in my experience, I've never seen an icemaker that worked well. Still, not bad. It's well built, roomy and still operates queitly. I like the design and layout of the interior. Consistant temps, well lit, installed easily.
There is one thing that bugged me for a long time though... The doors - like any fridge - will automatically swing "closed" when you let go of them. However, on this one they have a hinge that stops them just prior to closing. WTF? Even if you give them a little extra shove, they will stop just before closing. You have to manually push them closed, or give them an extra push for them to swing closed. On my last fridge, all you had to do was let go of the door and it would automatically swing all the way to closed, so it took me forever to get used to this one. I was constantly walking away only to have the door alarm (good thing it has one) go off - go back and push the damn door shut. Now that I'm in the habit of pushing them shut it's not as big a deal, but it really bugged me at first. Don't quite understand that hinge design... I will say the alarm is a pleasant-sounding one.
But overall it's a very good refrigerator, has good ratings, and I feel I made a good choice.

KitchenAid KFIS27CXMS Architect Series II 26.6 cu. ft. French Door Refrigerator - Stainless Steel Review

KitchenAid KFIS27CXMS Architect Series II 26.6 cu. ft. French Door Refrigerator - Stainless Steel
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Our old fridge died and gave us the impetus for a kitchen remodel. So in a pinch and without a fridge I bought the KFUS27CXMS sight unseen. I was hesitant given the reviews about noise and doors closing, but suffice to say I haven't had issue with either.
It's not whisper quiet, but my bedroom is right behind the wall where it is installed (1960s house, no internal insulation) and I can't hear the fridge at all from there. In the kitchen when the compressor comes on you can hear it, but it's no where near as bad as I had expected from reading the reviews. It's quieter than my old Kenmore it replaced so for me the noise is a non-issue.
The door works fine on mine as well. They are easy to close and require no additional effort. I can give them a little push and let them swing closed on their own momentum, no need for a second push to make sure they are secure.
I will report back on the ice maker after I few more months of service and update my review if I find issue there.
