I thought Scotsman was "quality". With light use, frequent cleaning and maintenance, my first lasted 7+ years before compressor failure. The cost of repair made it a "total loss". I purchased a Scotsman replacement, and the evaporator failed (out of warranty) after 2 years, 8 months. Cost to repair at authorized service shop was over $900, making it also a "total". Scotsman refused any assistance after inquiry by its authorized servicer, and has not even acknowledged 2 inquiries I made to its so called "contact us" link on its website. Great ice, if you can afford $1,600, including installation, for ice over 2 years, 8 months.
