(More customer reviews)Honestly, I've been using KitchenAid products for a decade. I broke my last blender. (entirely my fault) They have changed the design in this model and actually improved on what was already a five star appliance.
The carafe shape is better for making sure the stuff inside doesn't just swirl around. It is a non-circular shape so food folds into itself and mixes better.
I bought it to make smoothies in the morning. I can drop frozen fruit and yogurt into this puppy and the chop ice setting will pulse it into a pulp wonderfully. Then switch to blend to complete the process.
The pieces are easier to take apart and put back together for cleaning too.
I have to say, I am glad I destroyed my old blender; or I would never have realized what a great improvement this model is.
Highly recommended to someone who wants to buy the last blender they will ever need. (if you don't drop it 3 floors to the pavement) If you are used to buying cheap $50 blenders, please consider that those are meant to break down after a while. KitchenAid lasts forever. Ask any pro who uses Hobart (the commercial name) how long these last.
